I am passionate about helping the potentially vulnerable and their families.I am a specialist, accredited solicitor with significant experience and expertise. I act to protect the legal, financial and personal best interests of the potentially vulnerable. This may arise from a medical crisis at birth, an accident or incident resulting in a debilitating injury or the development of an illness or mental health condition that impacts on capacity.I am privileged to be 1 of only 62 Deputies in England and Wales who are accredited by the Court of Protection to be on their Panel. Together with Jane Bennett we are 1 of only 6 law firms to offer the benefit of 2 Panel Deputies in one firm. I am also accredited as a Panel Guardian. Our clients benefit from Jane and I actually acting as professional Attorney, Deputy, Executor and Trustees and so speak from experience gained from complex client circumstances. We combine our practical experience with our legal knowledge to make best interest decisions. We balance the "empowerment" of the vulnerable person, whenever possible, with ensuring their "protection" and safeguarding. Our preference is to help clients predict and prevent problems by contingency planning. However, we have the expertise and experience to respond quickly and guide clients and their family through an unforeseen crisis. The legal world of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Deputyship advice is unregulated and so your choice of legal advisor is critical to achieving efficient and effective outcomes. I am a fully accredited member of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners), SFE (Solicitors for the Eldery) and Committee Member of Worthing Dementia Alliance and former Dementia Friends Ambassador. I am an Affiliate Member of SOLLA (Society of Later Life Advisers) and regularly provide legal briefings to the their accredited Financial Advisors and Care Consultants. As as a firm we are recognised in both the Legal 500 and Chambers national law directories with testimonials for our expertise. We are supporters of the Hourglass Charity who seek to petition adn raise awareness of the need to protect the vulnerable. The typical scenarios where our specialist advice has proven valuable include:• Preparing Expert Witness reports for Medical Negligence and Personal Injury Claims• Advice on complex capacity issues for Wills and Powers of Attorney• Applications for Deputyship Orders • Advice to Attorneys and Deputies if they are investigated by the Office of the Public Guardian for alleged breaches of their duties or acting beyond their authority• Advice to Attorneys and Deputies about applications to the Court of Protection for authority to sell or purchase property, make lifetime gifts, enter into tax planning investments• Applications for a Statutory Will if someone doesn't have a will or a previous will is no longer in their best interests • Advice on discharge from hospital and the complexities of care provision and funding
