Advanced Accreditation

Objective

Designed to complement the Office of the Public Guardian’s standards, the PDF Accreditation Programme provides benchmarks for deputies to strive towards, enhancing their confidence, knowledge base, and career progression.

Criteria

  • Grade A fee earner, professional deputy or Trust Corporation Director
  • It is intended to be a test of knowledge and practice and successful completion will be a demonstration of experience and technical expertise as a professional deputy.
  • Completion of the Intermediate Tier is preferred before attempting the Advanced Tier, however, if you are a Deputy with at least 10 years Court of Protection experience, and you have not completed the Foundation or Intermediate Tiers, please contact us to discuss

Process

To achieve Advanced Accreditation, you must:
  1. Demonstrate that you meet all eight PDF Advanced Accreditation competencies, evidenced through real life case studies and supporting documentation in the application form
  2. Arrange for two professional referees to submit independent letters confirming that, in their view, you meet the relevant competencies;
  3. Attend a formal online assessment with two experienced PDF assessors, which includes a case study discussion and interview.

The assessment will be conducted by two independent and experienced assessors who will consider all evidence from your assessment. Following this they will evaluate your demonstrated competency level across each of the eight competency areas and determine whether you have met the Advanced accreditation standard.

Competencies

Candidates must submit evidence to their advanced membership assessors to demonstrate that their practice is commensurate with current PDF Standards and the Competency Framework.

  • A certificate will be provided when each tier is successfully completed.
  • A digital badge will be available for use in signature blocks for example upon successful completion of each tier.
  • If there is a significant change in law, it may require an ad-hoc syllabus update and online assessment.
